Jennifer Ciok has worked in education for over 25 years in a variety of roles. As the Director of Curriculum for the Billy Caldwell & The Great Lakes Treaty Making film, she was fortunate to get feedback from many individuals in the Native community, along with Susan Kelsey and her team in order to make this curriculum come to life in a way that honors the past, present and future of the Potawatomi people. She is excited to see these materials make their way into classrooms. Outside of her work on this film, Jennifer currently serves as the Manager of Coaching & Improvement for the University of Chicago’s To&Through Middle Grades Network, where she works with schools to create more equitable and supportive educational environments where middle grades students thrive. Prior to her work at To&Through, Jennifer was a middle school social studies and English teacher for 15 years and a Social Emotional Learning Manager at the high school level for five. Jennifer went to Ohio University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and her Masters in Reading Education. She also has her credentials in College and Career Advising and Gifted Education.
